Beijing The Ancient Observatory, situated at the southeast corner of Beijing's Jianguomen Bridge, was initially built circa 1442, during the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644). Its rich history spans more than five hundred years, making it one of the most historically interesting observatories in the world. During the Ming Dynasty it was known as the 'Platform of Star-Watching', but its name was later changed to 'Observatory' during the Qing Dynasty (1616-1911). After the Revolution of 1911, the title became 'Central Observatory'. The observatory was renovated in the early 1980s and reopened to the public in 1983. Today, the observatory has become the 'Beijing Ancient Astronomical Instruments Display Hall', an affiliate of the Beijing Observatory.
Guangzhou Cantonese cuisine includes almost all edible food in addition to the staples of pork, beef and chicken — snakes, snails, insects, worms, chicken feet, duck tongues, and entrails. One subject of controversy amongst some Westerners is the raising of dogs as food in some places in China; however, dog is not a common restaurant food, and is illegal in Hong Kong (and may soon be in Taiwan). Despite the countless Cantonese cooking methods, steaming, stir frying and deep frying are the most popular cooking methods in restaurants due to the short cooking time, and philosophy of bringing out the flavor of the freshest ingredients.
Hong Kong The Avenue of Stars is just a stone's throw from fabulous shopping and dining, great hotels and many of Tsim Sha Tsui's well-known and popular attractions including the Hong Kong Cultural Centre, the Hong Kong Space Museum and the Hong Kong Museum of Art. Nearby transportation like the "Star" Ferry and the MTR make it easy to reach this great attraction. So stargazers get ready for this exciting spectacle.
Shanghai Nanjing Lu There are many shopping facilities in Shanghai, and the selection of available goods is nearly the same as that of any international city. Nanjing Lu, China's best known shopping street, cuts from East to West through Shanghai and offers everything that can satisfy every tourist. Many bookstores can be found parallel to Nanjing Lu, in Fuzhou Lu.
Shanghai Museum The museum was opened in 1996, offering a spectacular collection of exhibits in a superb setting. Its 11 state-of-the-art galleries house China's first international-standard exhibits of paintings, bronzes, sculptures, ceramics, calligraphy, jade, Ming and Qing dynasty furniture, coins, seals, and minority art. The bronze collection is reputedly the best in the world. It is a not-to-missed attraction in Shanghai.
Shenzhen Shenzhen is known for its attractions, most of them are either made or bought with huge finance. Some of the popular ones with tourists include Window of the World, China Folk Culture Village, Splendid China, Minsk Aircraft Carrier World, Safari Park, Fairy Lake Bontanic Garden and so on, while Honey Lake Country Club, Silver Lake Tourist Center, Evergreen Park, Xiaomeisha Beach Resort and Happy Valley Theme Park seem to be more attractive to locals
